Enakshi Sinha
One of the leading Odissi dancers in North America, Enakshi residing in Toronto now, cultivated a lifelong devotion to Indian Classical dance starting with Bharatnatyam followed by Odissi dance. Learned this subtle form from Guru Sharmila Biswas, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra & Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra. Her active performance career spans for the last 18 years that includes performing in major festivals of India, Europe & North America as a soloist and with her dance productions. One of her recent performances was at the backdrop of Taj Mahal at TajMahotsav, 2018, in Embassy of India in Paris and Portugal, 2019 and in Khajuraho Festival in 2020. Enakshi also had the honour to perform during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in Toronto. Since 2017 Enakshi has been a cultural ambassador for India Tourism in Canada representing Indian culture. Enakshi also had the privilege to work with the Indigenous Artists through the residency in Baker Lake, Nunavut and for the very first time Nunavut witnessed the Indian Classical dance with a Inuit throat singer. Enakshi is the Founder Chairperson and Artistic Director of her dance institution, ‘Mrudanga Centre for Performing Arts’, involved in the training of dancers in Toronto, and Windsor. Annually Mrudanga organizes Dance festival “Umang” - Light on Hope in Windsor inviting internally acclaimed artists from North America and overseas to enrich the cultural site in Windsor, On.
