Madhavapeddi Murthy is the son of Late Madhavapeddi Satyam, noted Play-Back Singer. Murthy has learnt Kuchipudi under the Tutelage of Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, Founder-Director, Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai ,for more than 20 years. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh and having this artistic family background it is but natural for Murthy to excel in his chosen form of Art-Kuchipudi. He runs a dance institute SIVA FOUNDATION in Chennai. He was also trained in classical music for a few years. He has portrayed major roles in different Dance-dramas, has performed in Major Festivals and various temples all over the country and also for religious events. He performs classical dance shows with leading danseuse Hema Malini. He has travelled world wide giving performances, demonstrations, workshops in countries like USA, Canada,France,Belgium etc. He has been invited as a Guest Lecturer to the University of IOWA. The Government of Tamilnadu has appointed him as a Member in Tamilnadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram. He is an empaneled artist in the ICCR (Indian council for cultural relations) and is the recipient of KALAIMAMANI AWARD instituted by the Government of Tamilnadu and other titles like Sathya Tandava Sundaram by Bharatanjali , Natya Kala Vipanchee by Dr.M.Balamurali Krishna Trust , Natya Siromani in Canberra , Australia , Rose of Rizwan award by Bahai center , Chennai , Nrithya Bharathi in Hyderabad to name a few.
